Adam Driver Had No Problem Going Shirtless in 'The Last Jedi'

Adam Driver goes shirtless during a memorable scene in the new movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the film’s director Rian Johnson says the actor had no problem stripping down for it.

Rian opened up about why the shirtless moment was necessary for the plot. The scene happens while Kylo Ren and Rey are having one of their conversations through their minds.

“It’s all about those Force connection scenes,” Rian told People. “The keyword being intimacy. And the idea that this was a way to just, why not step that up? The idea that, what’s even more uncomfortable having a conversation face to face with a person you don’t want to, is if they’re half-naked during it, while you’re having to do it. And so it was just another way of kind of disrobing Kylo literally and figuratively a little bit more, and pushing that sense of these conversations becoming increasingly more intimate.”

Adam looks so damn good because he’d been training hardcore for the past six months for those fight scenes. I’m like, ‘Eh. He looks so good. We should put him up there,’” he added.

So did Adam have any issue with going shirtless? “No, no, he’s good. He’s great. He knew he looked good,” Rian said.

Adam Driver & Stephen Colbert Act Out 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Scene Using Action Figures

Adam Driver stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday (December 14) and reenacted scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi with figurines from the franchise!

The 34-year-old actor then talked about playing the villain Kylo Ren and whether or not he considers him to be “evil.”

“This is such an actor-y thing to say but I don’t think of him as evil, I think of him as someone who thinks he’s right as opposed to someone who thinks he’s evil,” Adam told Stephen. “They think that what they’re doing is morally justified so there’s no end to what they’ll do to make sure whatever agenda they have is being pushed.”

“I think in my experience someone who’s just evil doesn’t have a shelf life to me,” Adam continued. “They think they’re morally justified to do what they’re doing and they’re incapable of hearing the other side.”

Adam Driver Wants To Be 'Surprised' By Future 'Star Wars' Episodes!

Mark Hamill and Adam Driver get together for a photograph while attending their press conference for Star Wars: The Last Jedi held at the Ritz Carlton Tokyo on Thursday (December 7) in Tokyo, Japan.

The 66-year-old actor and Adam, 34, were joined at the event by writer-director Rian Johnson, producer Kathleen Kennedy, C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8.

Adam, who’s best known for playing Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, recently revealed that he prefers not knowing about his character’s fate for Episode IX.

“I’ve learned in doing a TV show, the best way to go into something that kind of turns and like, it’s episodic, or keeps going on is to have no idea and then I’m always kind of pleasantly surprised,” Adam expressed. “For me that’s kind of one of the fun parts of your job is not kind of having… I have a general sense but as far as how things kind of get there, I know, I love being… and even the general sense, I’m open to being kind of. Surprised by it. It’s more fun for me to not know.”

Adam Driver Defends The Empire in 'Star Wars': 'The Rebels Are Bad'!

Adam Driver keeps it dapper in a suit while hitting the red carpet at the Japan premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi held at Roppongi Hills on Wednesday (December 6) in Tokyo, Japan.

The 34-year-old actor was joined at the fan-event by his co-star Mark Hamill and writer-director Rian Johnson.

While promoting the anticipated flick, Adam – who’s best known for playing Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens – came to The Empire’s defense by stating that The Rebellion was actually bad.

“It’s not like people weren’t living on the Death Star,” Adam expressed (via Rolling Stone). “Isn’t that also an act of terrorism against the hundreds of thousands of people who died there? Did they not have families? I see how people can point to examples that make themselves feel they’re right. And when you feel in your bones that you’re supported by a higher power on top of that, and you’re morally right, there’s no limit to what you’ll do to make sure that you win. Both sides feel this way.”

“So, the rebels are bad,” Adam continued. “I strongly believe this!”
